Вечером 10 марта MRO достиг своей цели и точно вышел на вытянутую эллиптическую орбиту вокруг Марса. Во время выполнения манёвра машина 20 минут находилась за планетой и не могла связываться с Землёй. Когда после этого молчания был получен сигнал от MRO, команда миссии в Лаборатории реактивного движения (JPL) взорвалась аплодисментами.
В течение следующих 6 месяцев, впрочем, MRO предстоит выполнить не менее ответственный манёвр: за счёт прецизионного тормwas added.
